My son .. the future Flying Fijian

This is the first piece of the blog which I hope to maintain till my son's dream is achieved. Enjoy!

Reading Ema Volavola's blog about Ben's journey is the inspiration behind this.

👊

When Isaiah was much younger I banned him from even thinking of playing rugby. Being  journalist I had and have seen men succumb to injuries from the playing rugby, with some being paralyzed for life.

So just imagine my horror when he told me he was going to NZ for the Aimz Games in September.

I was in Labasa and because he shared the news with me so quietly, holding his breath, waiting for me to yell at him from this end, melted my heart.

You see Isaiah was never really a kid who was aggressive and I thought he would need to be in order to win in rugby! My son is a gentleman.  He cares for the little things people would naturally walk away from. He loves everything to do with family.

So with a lump the size of a tennis ball wedged in my throat, I relented and allowed him to go.

Isaiah was named Captain and led his team from Gospel Primary School to the games and they  returned richer with knowledge and experience.

Now he tells me he's gonna be a Flying Fijian one day.  I start counting the years off in my head. Lol. He is 14 so that would give him a good 5 to 6 years to make 5hat dream a reality.

As any mother would, I am already praying for healing for injuries My Future Flying Fijian - https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=3744855073750980939#editor/target=post;postID=26that will be sustained in the pursuit of this dream. Because it all begins now, for me.
I have failed as a Mum but if there is one I will aspire to do, it's to facilitate all I can to make my son's dream come true.
